How to Make Roasted Garlic

Let’s talk about that golden, caramelized, spreadable heaven bulb we call roasted garlic. This is the crunchy kitchen equivalent of casting a culinary spell - and your house is about to smell divine.

How to Make Roasted Garlic (Whole Bulbs, Crunchy Moon Style)

Because once you roast garlic, you never go back to basic.

What You’ll Need:

  • Whole heads of garlic (as many as your soul says yes to)
  • Olive oil
  • Sea salt (optional, but delightful)
  • Foil or parchment
  • A roasting pan, baking dish, or your cast iron bestie

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your magic portal
    Heat oven to 400°F (205°C) - it’s garlic time.

  2. Trim those tops
Take your whole garlic bulbs and slice off the top (just enough to expose the tops of the cloves). Don’t peel them – the papery skins stay on.

  3. Drizzle that goodness
Place each bulb on a piece of foil or in a snug baking dish. Drizzle generously with olive oil, letting it seep into every nook and cranny. Sprinkle with sea salt if you’re feeling extra fancy.

  4. Wrap or cover
Wrap each bulb in foil OR cover your dish tightly with a lid or foil to keep the moisture in.

  5. Roast, baby, roast
Pop it in the oven and roast for 35-45 minutes, depending on size. You want it soft, golden, and smooshable like garlic butter sent from the heavens.

Pro Crunchy Tip:
Toss a few whole bulbs into a roasting pan when you’re doing a slow-roast chicken, pork shoulder, or root veggie tray. The garlic gets extra rich from the meat juices and becomes the MVP of your meal. Just remember to fish it out before your family devours everything.

How to Use It:

  • Squeeze it out like toothpaste (it’s that soft!)
  • Spread it on sourdough or naan
  • Mash into mashed potatoes or soups
  • Mix with butter and herbs for instant garlic butter
  • Add to salad dressings, sauces, or straight-up eat it like the feral garlic goddess you are
